After getting laid off about a year and a half ago, I spent 1 year exactly looking for a job. Finally found one doing asset management sub-contracted twice. My job was to image “a ton of computers”.
Being excited to finally be back at work, I put my head down and worked hard. I immediately improved the process they had, and I was about 10x more efficient. I had time to do the jobs of the other people in the warehouse that weren't doing theirs (35+ minute bathroom breaks, 3+ hours of phone use, showing up 5 hours late [and drunk], etc.).
I honestly was enjoying was I was doing. I had the Olympics setup, had music playing, and flexible(ish) hours. Then last week I get pulled aside. “We are out of computers for now and more have been ordered, but we are laying you off”. He then said that they are expecting more, and may reach out in a month for my job back.
So they laid me off to save…$4,500…at a company that makes BILLIONS of dollars.
Idk what to do anymore. I'm done, I'm tired, and I genuinely want to work – just for someone that at least attempts to care.
