HIPAA Violation?

I have missed a few days of work due to migraines and HR told me I need to get a doctor's note “stating that [I] get migraines and take medication for it.” Are they allowed to require that? I don't mind providing a note from my neurologist but does it have to go in that much detail? I feel wierd about them requiring I disclose whether I take medication. ETA the state is Ohio.
