I think it's such a scam that in school, it's widely accepted to hate elements of it. to complain about the early mornings, the school traffic, having the do so much classwork and homework, to have to time after school for plans and rest and homework and extra curricular, etc etc. We all celebrated and were relieved by Non-Work things that interrupt school “work” like assemblies, fire drills, parties, state testing, etc. but since all of that was under the guise of one day you will be able to have the job of your dreams, now at work, we have to act like we are so passionate about work and working and our role. it's a “career,” it has meaning. but no, it's the same thing. i am forced to go somewhere and do work m-f. i want to call out sick. i want to have reason to not have to do work. i want to put my headphones in and read my book in “class” i want a random work lunch and training or a day of change and interruption, i want the wifi to go down. i wanted good grades, now i want to Keep my job and get good pay, but i acknowledge this work is silly and unimportant.
do we just make this emotional shift of meaning to make it less miserable bc unlike school, there is no end in sight
