What has happened exactly that’s caused jobs to be so ridiculously hard to get now?

I’m not just talking about employers never responding to job applications and getting a job being notoriously difficult, I’m also talking about how ridiculous job applications have become in terms of intelligence testing, personality tests, ai interviews and the like. What the hell has happened for it to get to this point?
