My husband got a job as a data analyst for a giant company last August and it is his second job in this field. This May, without any communication, they moved him to a new team and new role. In this new position, he is to create reports for the C-Suite and give updates across all these projects.
My husband knew he was in over his head, but kept communications open, kept asking questions etc… At a meeting this morning his manager said that the questions my husband was asking were not “ones he'd expect from someone in this position” and that he was the “weak link” on the team. His manager said that he had contacted Employee Relations, but stressed that this was not HR.
We are both really confused, isn't Employee Relations part of HR? Are they getting ready to fire him? Move him again? We're both in a panic. I work in Higher Ed, so the corporate veil seems really opaque. Can someone help us out and explain what is going on?
