We recently hired a new technician through a temp agency. Something seemed so off about him, and out of curiosity I googled his name. The first link at the top of search results was to a news article about a recent child predator sting that led to the arrest of two men. I opened the link, read the article, then scrolled to the bottom and saw his mugshot with his name and age captioned underneath.
I asked my supervisor if we do background checks and she said that technically the temp agency is responsible for that.
I feel absolutely sick to my stomach. The thought of this guy running residential jobs or a service call at a daycare or school is nauseating. I hope my supervisor does the right thing with this information and informs management we need to let him go immediately. I don’t feel comfortable working with him anymore.
How long should I wait for action to take place? Should I present this information to my service management team? I don’t want to overstep boundaries with my supervisor, but also don’t know how long is too long to wait for this POS to be let go.
