Working all of September?

So there’s only 3 of us in my department (open 7 days a week), and one just quit. He will be gone at the end of the month leaving only 2 of us until they take their sweet time hiring a replacement. And the other guy is taking a vacation 9/7-9/29. So I’ll be stuck working those days by myself, plus my normal days and cover the guy who quit. That means I’ll have to work at least 9/2-9/29 if not longer. The bosses aren’t observant enough to foresee this as a problem yet and probably won’t hire someone else for a month or so after someone quits The question is: Should I be a smart ass and be “out of town” 9/6-9/9 before anyone notices? Or should I just take it in the ass and work for probably what will be over a month with no days off?

Of course I’ll be getting OT either way but just a couple less days of OT and 4 days off to prepare myself for a shit storm of a month.
