I've been looking for a new job for a while, and I've been applying to pretty much all jobs in my area that's basically the same role/level as my previous one. However I will admit that my previous job was pretty easy, and for a lot of similar level roles, there are additional tasks/responsibilities that I didn't do and wouldn't know how to do without training.
But after doing tons of interviews and submitting applications, I realized jobs don't seem to want to train candidates anymore. If you're missing even a single qualification or don't know how to do something, that has disqualified me from pretty much every job no matter how far in the interview process I get.
Jobs aren't going to interview you in the first place if they didn't think you could do the job, so surely train the candidates who would otherwise be a perfect fit for the position?
The crazy thing is, companies would rather spend months putting the additional work and responsibilities left by vacancies onto other employees in order to find the perfect candidate that checks every single box, than to just train someone who's close enough.
There have been a few jobs I've applied to months ago that are STILL reposting the job on LinkedIn to this very day lol
