Obviously not all of them are like that, but I'm sick of the ones who think they command respect and are even intimidating to a certain extent, because they're being themselves.
No. Literally it's not because you're being yourself. It's because you're abusing your power and could seriously fuck up a person's life by firing them.
Take away the title and you're just a miserable human being with life issues you take out on everyone else. Low self-esteem, failing marriages, health issues, addiction, estrangement from family – these are all things I've seen in these people.
They'll get up close into your face with an angry look and a faint grin, like they wouldn't get the ever-loving fuck beaten out of them if they did that out in the streets. They'll insult and humiliate you as though you're not aware they themselves live in a glass house.
And when you show zero emotion to their attempts at bullying and they notice your regard for their authority stays on your desk as you walk out, they start looking for ways to fault you. They'll cut your hours, give you the most mundane tasks hoping you'll gas out from boredom, and call you a non-contributor for your refusal to kiss ass.
They are literally just ordinary ass people who bleed when cut, feel fear like anyone else, and are on their way to the forever box six feet under like everyone else. But they somehow think otherwise.
These people are precisely why I hate work so much and consider other means of making money. I hate taking orders enough as it is. What more for someone trying to torture you for their amusement?
