How I think commute time should be paid

Everyone is paid at their regular pay rate for the duration of the national average commute time or their regions commute time if it's tracked. If you are hybrid work, you are paid the commute time for every day you work, regardless if you work from home that day. Anything more than 1 work from the office day per 2 week period is considered hybrid. Any lunch or other break that is less than 2x the average commute plus 30 minutes is required to be paid. Having the commute pay be the same for everyone will prevent people from being fired or not hired in the first place if they live farther away from work. The hybrid workers being paid even when they work from home is to really make employers consider if the work needs to be hybrid. This would hopefully make a decent amount of hybrid workers change to full time remote workers like they already should be.

If you get so little time for your lunch break that you cannot feasibly leave the building, is it really a break? Not really. If the work is so important you need your employees back sooner than the nearly 1.5 hours you'd have to give them for it to be unpaid, put your money where your mouth is and actually pay your employees for the half-assed lunch breaks we currently get. Bring us back to the time our parents and grandparents had 1 hour PAID lunch breaks.

Thoughts and changes you'd make?
