I was working as an order picker walking miles a day, over time my knee started to hurt. I filed a workman's comp claim. Got X-rays and an MRI. The doctor said it could be a sprain or a tear. A Google search told me they were the same thing. I'm seeing an orthopedic doctor in a few days
I'm 38, and I'm worried they are going to try surgery. I read that it often leads to arthritis and knee replacement surgery. I want the pain to go away. They still have me going to work, I'm not picking, but I had to leave early because it's hurting more than usual.
They took me off physical therapy last week, but still said I can go to work, I don't know why they did that.
I'm angry because they always gave me the hard spots when I was picking, I had to walk most between picks, so I had to really move just to make rate, while they gave other people easy stuff and this was happening all the time. Also their carts are messed up.
Now I'm collecting poly bags and for a while my knee wasn't hurting, but I had to be careful about my rotator cuffs. I didn't want another injury. Today pushing the carts with the poly bags started to hurt my knee, it was my last day before the appointment, so I took a hit on my attendance and left early.
I was also turned down for a promotion, they said I was qualified, but my interview skills weren't good enough. I was doing much less brainless work when they first put me on comp.
It feels like they are trying to get rid of me.
They did this to me then they try to find anyway to say it's my fault.
I'm worried this is going to effect me for the rest of my life, and the fact that this happened because of work really rubs salt in wounds.
Sorry about the rant,
I guess I'm just hoping that it will fully heal at least without surgery and my knee will go back to normal. Is this even in the realm of realistic?
On top of the knee pain, I get depressed or angry alot. I wanted to see a specialist right away and they have been dragging it out for months. This really does suck.
They treat us as expendable, and the laws that are in place are there to help the corporations get away with their gross exploitation. In my state I have very little legal recourse, and employers know it. This is why this happened to me.
