So i recently started a job at a smoke shop about 2 months back now. and it was all with the intent that I would be working 30-40 hours a week. yesterday one of the company owners comes in and says that one of our other stores employees total hours for the week is 150 and he wants us to emulate that. there’s only 4 of them at that store and 5 at ours and we’re both considered understaffed anyhow from what i’ve heard.
so, this is results in schedule changes, no one else seems to have taken a hit like this at my store, but next week I was supposed to work 30 hours, and now that has been reduced to 15. that’s $225 a paycheck they knocked off for no explained reason other than that. but that can’t be legal can it?
side note: i never signed a contract stating what my hours were to be when i got hired. all i signed were some documents saying i read the handbook and typical tax docs. i do believe there is something saying i requested full time hours but that might be it.
