Essentially, we have a hands off manager that isn't interested in addressing the internal issues. She's close to retirement and this location will inevitably fail unless things change soon. Most of the former and current employees and even the customers don't like her. I do and she seems to like me too. On a personal level but also obviously because I try to do my job to the best of my ability. However, I've learned that she is historically unwilling to give raises. Some of the more involved “grunt” work has been Pawned off to a 3rd party IC company. The contractors have ruined the organization of the inventory and do a piss poor job of managing the gas pump trash cans, which leads to us hourly employees having much harder jobs in general. As of today the company will no longer be using the 3rd party service which is a great first step. But, there is a ton of work that needs to happen in order to get the store up to speed. There are no set systems in place for the tasks required during shifts. So unless myself and the other employees that are engaged with our jobs step it up, I doubt much will change. Another major factor is that maintenance for the store is terrible. Our regular maintenance guy is a freeloading asshat and the store is bleeding utilities because of his shitty work. I don't know if corporate has a contract with his company or what but this guy needs to go. That alone would free up so much of the stores wasted revenue. Which could allow for raises.
Any suggestions? Other than quit or find a better job, please.
