Found this nice beauty while looking at the franchise I work for.

I (24M, MA) work (and am about to leave) Jiffy Lube, well, one of the many franchises. Yeah, the quick oil change guys who screw everyone over in the end cause god forbid you sell shoddy treatments and services yo people that don't want them. I found the photo attachment along with this to basically hit the nail on the head. So a lot of my criticisms of this joint are gonna mimic or nearly look plagiarized. Thing is, dispite my cynicism against the place- I stayed there for 3 years cause I'm a masochist or something. Place was always a dump, the managers being varying degrees of being on either corporates side, or the employee's side. In the end, either one side would get the shaft or the other. The incentives are included in hiring without mentioning the goals of bonuses, which usually if upper management notice they're being…

Thing is, dispite my cynicism against the place- I stayed there for 3 years cause I'm a masochist or something. Place was always a dump, the managers being varying degrees of being on either corporates side, or the employee's side. In the end, either one side would get the shaft or the other. The incentives are included in hiring without mentioning the goals of bonuses, which usually if upper management notice they're being struck constantly, will up the goalposts so it's hard to meet them and force more sales. This drives away customers and in turn its almost like they double down by jacking up the price more on core sales. Makes it harder to sell, but you need to sell more cause the goal (per car mind you) just went up a few dollars more, meaning you're earning less of a bonus than you had just 3-6 months prior.

In turn it makes every fucking person from the manager to the sales stressed that they're not earning what they should. And in turn they get ticked at all the mechanics and techies thatre on the floor running the show primarily. Then we get ticked at customers (unreservedly so) cause of the hostile and high stress work environment that this feels all into.

The place sucks in short.

If you are reading this and want to go into this industry. Just do a mom and pop shop or like Mavis or Monroe. Both are seedy in management too, but fuck at least they compensate you per car than whatever bullshit this is. We had our ASM fired recently cause she and the crew that was on duty were burnt out from a week of hell and couldn't clean, and the general maintenance guy that works there (who also isn't paid or trained correctly, doesn't even get his own fucking work truck, he drives around in a Buick sedan) couldn't fix our shit. So we had a clogged system so we couldn't drain oil, there's a hole in our tank system leaking oil, and other shit. She (the ASM) had made a 3 page report on an idiot that has been the cause of multiple suits and damage bills thatve cost us thousands. The idiot didn't even get a write up, she got canned on the spot.

Mind you, the shop was a complete hot shit mess while our main manager was there. For the past 3 months.

Anyway back to the top, Im finally leaving- my manager is pissed cause I'm the most recent to drop ship for a place offering on average 15-20k more than I make now. Didn't like that dispite giving my time, just so happened to have vacation time that I'd planned waaay prior tune up, so he's trying to pull hot shit and schedule me on for.my usual days off and force me to stay back while the rest of my family goes. He'll be sorely mistaken.
