A classic “should I send this email?” postarama

Usually, this is where I would say “putting it together was my pleasure.” However, as someone who has been applying to things, such as schools, fellowships, jobs, and so forth since 2011, and someone who has conducted over one hundred interviews himself, I must say that this has been the most disrespectful and inefficient application process I've been a part of. Dear [REDACTED],

Thank you for your message and I am happy to respond. I appreciate the time you all spent reviewing my application. Usually, this is where I would say “putting it together was my pleasure.”

However, as someone who has been applying to things, such as schools, fellowships, jobs, and so forth since 2011, and someone who has conducted over one hundred interviews himself, I must say that this has been the most disrespectful and inefficient application process I've been a part of. Asking applicants to watch 20 minutes of video and complete 3 essays and 5 interviews is inconsiderate of their time and pretentious and conceited of you about your position in the job market. Most interviewers had clearly not read the various essays you requested and asked redundant questions that caused me to repeat or paraphrase what I had put thought and time into writing. That is to say, I could tell that they had not read the essays; if they didn't, who did? The fifth interview was conducted by an employee who was in the car in between meetings and she was clearly distracted by the road and incapable of following what I was saying. For an organization predicated on love for fellow man, you show a surprisingly small amount of empathy.

I want to be utterly clear that this message is not born of anger about the result–if you read the above, you will see that we are clearly not right for each other–but a disappointment in a community that continually fails society and itself through hypocrisy.

I wish you bountiful future endeavors~

Thank you and please always feel free to reach out.

Best Wishes

I usually avoid wasting time by messaging people like that–they're usually beyond the point of no return when it comes to learning how to be better–but this one was egregious enough that I think they at least need to face the music. At least that would force them to continue to make the decision to continue to be bad. Perhaps I should have known better than to put stock in the organization and its employees given the interview process but I really liked the premise of the organization and its potential to provide unparalleled utility to the market.
