I applied for an internal role for a well known food delivery company about a month ago, my friend that works there pushed my resume through and I was so thankful. Within a day a recruiter had emailed me to select time frames for a zoom interview, I was instructed to select 2-4 slots. I selected 2 and waited. About 3 days later I got an email stating that they were not proceeding with my application. About an hour later the recruiter emails me and tells me to disregard, there was a technical issue and I need to select new times. No problem, shit happens, so I selected new times. I got my confirmation and calendar invite the next day for a few days from then.
The day before the interview, I'm asked to pick different time slots. Okay…. Starting to feel wary but I need a job so I don't complain. The morning of the new interview, she does it AGAIN. I have to pick new time slots. I tell the recruiter this doesn't sit well with me and makes me wary about proceeding. She gives me a bullshit answer now they are having issues aligning the interviewers with those time slots. Then when do I keep receiving confirmation emails? No response. This happens TWO MORE TIMES. My interview got pushed a total of FIVE TIMES. I got petty at this point and picked time slots for all hours of everyday of the week, no excuses from them now. The slots the recruiter agreed to were a week and a half away. I asked if they could do something earlier so I'm eager and don't want to miss my chance, no response.
Nearly 25 days after initially applying, I finally have my interviews. I thought they went well, left me with a bad feeling due to the unprofessionalism of the set up and actual interviews, but, again, ya girl needs a job.
During the interviews, one with a supervisor and one with a team lead, most of my questions were met with answers of “oh your recruiter should know that or should have told you already”. Nope. She did not. After my 2nd interview I asked what the next steps look like and how long I should expect a response. She said the recruiter should have set up a 3rd interview with HR already. WRONG AGAIN. I email the recruiter immediately after it ends and ask her about this. No response.
This morning I get an auto response saying all spots have been filled and they are closing my application.
If this dumb ass recruiter hadn't made me wait NEARLY A MONTH to interview, I could have got it. Why are recruiters so fucking incompetent. I used to work at a staffing agency so I'm well versed in how genuinely disconnected from the world most recruiters can be. Not all recruiters, I have worked with some genuinely great ones over the years.
Just a rant, sorry for shitty formatting. I've been out of work for nearly 7 weeks and this was my first and only lead. And now I've had my time wasted due to negligence. I want to go off on this recruiter and find her higher ups, but I don't want t to jeopardize my friend that referred me. I didn't really want this job, but I'm desperate and would have accepted it out of necessity if offered. I hate the job market.
