A small step toward UBI starting in Oregon

I do not know if this link will work, but the article is from the Epoch Times – which generally leans more right-wing conservative. However, I have read the article a few times and it does not really seem to lean any direction politically and simply is stating facts. I included a bio of the reporter below. I will be voting in favor of this new proposal, which is trying to grant all people $1,600 per year tax-free and no strings attached. The funds would come from corporations that make over $25 million per year. They estimate this would be a 3% tax, and that these corporations are currently only paying less than 1% while average Oregonians are paying between 5-10% state tax.
