For context, I work in a large call center where we occasionally have to move desks for different reasons, usually because of a training class, so every time we move desks, we take everything with us other than the computers. We are allowed to have clear bags and other items, such as toys. I have 4 rubik's cubes, a bag with a number of things you may need throughout the day, and items for ergonomic accommodations, including a special keyboard, mousepad, and an ergonomic chair.
I was out for two days due to doctor's appointments, and when I returned, my bag was missing. The bag, and the contents of the bag, were the only things missing from my desk, everything else was accounted for. I was able to find out who had my bag, which was a manager, not my manager, but a different manager. I had to wait a few hours for him to show up before I could retrieve the bag. When I did get it back, he said that nothing in my bag, or anyone else's bags that had been taken, violated company policy. When I asked why the bag was removed from my desk, all he could say was “Well, we like you to keep your stuff off of the desks in case a training class needs to be moved there.” Just to clarify, they were not expecting a training class to come in there, in fact, they had dedicated an entire quarter of the facility to training, and I wasn't in there. The supervisors like to harass us about the things we have or leave at our desks, but taking our things without legitimate reason would be considered theft, right? Like, if I had been on break, and my car keys were in there when they took it, that would be considered grand theft. I need to know what to do to get their behavior to stop.
