I work a corporate job fully remote. Got the gig after getting laid off with the tech layoffs last year, and finally got a similar role with way less pay and no benefits at all as a contractor.
I got hired to do recruiting and now I’m a glorified scheduler. I dread every day I sign on to work, and am treated like an incompetent errand and scheduling bitch. God forbid I make an error and I get ripped apart by my own team members (the least), our HR partners and the executives I work with. I’ve made a few small non consequential errors (like didn’t include “reception will walk you out” or following up on interview feedback which I included in all of the correspondence. Stupid shit I’ve never heard of people getting mad about before.)
I’m desperate to keep a decent job and would even sign on for full time considering I live in an area that’s not commutable to anywhere, but I think about how my skills are being flushed down the drain and any hopes of maintaining and flourishing in a recruitment career seems to be passing me by.
