I am a teacher who wanted to do some extra work on the side, as I need the money. I found a job positing to be a content writer for a certain grade level and subject area, and frankly it was a position I was a perfect fit for. I aced the initial interview and then they asked me to write and submit a sample. I spent an hour making them a sample, which they loved, and they asked if to interview me for the next round. I did have to push the day of that interview by about 5 days as I was going to be out of the country, but I communicated that within 30 minutes of them asking for my availability, and they agreed. The day comes, I am back in my home country, and I do the interview… at the end, they tell me the position has already been filled. Why would they waste my time doing the interview? And now they have my phenomenal content which I wrote for them on file. If I was petty I'd send them the bill for that hour of work. I am honestly convinced these companies do not have any intention of hiring anyone and just use these “job openings” to scam people into doing free labor for them.
