I work for a major insurance company that was effected by the manual ACH processing error on 11/6/23. I was one of the lucky folks who got paid 2x my normal paycheck.
The company sent an email on the 6th that said they would rectify the overpayments ASAP and not to spend any of it.
It's now 11/30 and the money has not been removed from our accounts. Today, HR sent an email that said the company would be docking future checks by 15% to recoup their double payments. Is this legal?
I'm in Texas for what that's worth. Company headquarters is in Chicago, IL.
