There’s a woman in my office who no one gets along with. That would be fine on it’s own but she has made and continues to make comments about stabbing various coworkers and even once said she would bring a gun and shoot a specific coworker. She hasn’t done anything violent (yet) but she has started to escalate in her bad behavior. The other day, she took someone’s papers that they had printed and shredded them. This was the same person who she had threatened to shoot.
I work in a relatively small law office (less than 30 employees). We are a satellite office for a bigger law firm. HR is not in our building and probably don’t know much about what goes on here. We have a lawyer who is the “managing attorney”. The coworker who was threatened made a report to HR but no one really took it seriously. Now we’re worried that something might really happen but we’re not sure what to do about it if the higher ups don’t seem to care. Any advice?
Also side note; the hostile coworker is not even very good at her job so they’re not trying to brush it off in order to keep a high performing employee.
