I just transferred to the ER of my hospital. As with most hospital jobs, the night shift employees typically don't take breaks. So when I asked the person orienting me when she's going on her break she said “we don't take breaks here”. Ofc I don't like that because they're def taking that half hr from our paychecks. Now, a lot of the staff here are agency so maybe they make enough not to care, but I do not. My first thought was to say “Well I do”, but I also don't wanna be that person esp on my first night. BUT I also don't wanna normalize working for for free (it's the principle of the thing, corny as that sounds).
