Advice on how to handle unprofessionalism from the owner of a small company that I work for.

I will try to keep this fairly short but back in September of this year I landed a new position at a small company that is very close to my home. A bout a month into this new position some family things came up that wouldn’t allow me to continue working. I shared this with my boss with the intention of quitting that day. He, however offered me a remote position with the company because they “saw potential” and were in need of extra help in that department. All they asked was that I continue to work in person until they were ready to set me up at home. The timeline on that was 30 days. It ended up taking 5 months but I hung in there because they understood my situation and didn’t mind when I couldn’t make it in due to my circumstances which I appreciated. I finally…

I finally got to the point where I could work from home in February but they flipped the script on me and now I was expected to work in person 1 day a week.(after I pulled my child from daycare) I was under the impression this was a temporary schedule and have made efforts to secure child care for that one day a week. This last week I was unable to come in because my child was sick. My boss sent me an email stating that I would no longer be able to work from home on the one day a week that I was required to be there and I would have to use a PTO day. I expressed to him that I hadn’t missed any other days and that it felt like a punishment that was unwarranted. The response from the owner “hmmmm ” and “wow okay. We will need to see if this position is working out”. That was last Thursday. i emailed them back Friday morning and apologized if I had offended them but I still haven’t heard anything from them. I am continuing to do my job but I feel incredibly disrespected. This is now the second time they have said ”we will need to see if this position is working out” I am a good worker and they know that. It feels like since I started working remotely, they don’t like me anymore or like they think they are doing me a favor so they can treat me poorly. I don’t know. I have never experienced anything like this before and I guess I would just like a little advice on how to handle this.
