Advocated for myself, no more wage theft

I work the overnight shift at a group home. Manager of the house I was at was mad I wouldn’t drive a kid to school after she physically threatened me. Told her if someone threatens my life or property I’m not driving her. Was reprimanded for an hour after my shift, was later told I was not to be compensated for my one hour because it was something that didn’t fall during my hours (12am-8am), so I told her she should have berated me during my shift hours otherwise it’s wage theft. I called HR and told them; HR actually sided with me for the first time in my life.
