After working my booty off for 7 years, I was finally told I was eligible for the promotion I have been asking about and doing stretch roles for. People started scheduling meetings with me about the transition and I thought I finally was going to have everything figured out with my career. Then Thursday happened.
At 7:30pm Thursday, I got an email saying they were closing my company and laying off everyone. This came with no warning, as the C-suite hasn't communicated with us for months. I feel so lied to and betrayed but that's corporate America for you.
Now I'm filing for unemployment, cobra, and whatever I possibly can so my daughter, boyfriend, and I don't end up becoming homeless. Wish me luck on my job search! Any advice on how to navigate this would be most welcome.
