AITA for asking my wife to get her OT paid

Mandatory warning: non English speaker on phone. Little AITA to get some perspective and some community feedback. My wife is a US citizen, where we live now. I’m from France, and due to my line of work, I only have worked in big companies’ HQ. So I’m used to being a number in the big machine, and learnt to not give any more than what I’m paid to do. Little AITA to get some perspective and some community feedback.

My wife is a US citizen, where we live now. I’m from France, and due to my line of work, I only have worked in big companies’ HQ. So I’m used to being a number in the big machine, and learnt to not give any more than what I’m paid to do.

My wife on the other hand works in a small clinic helping autistic children. It’s a job of passion, and she loves it. All the employees (around 20) are very close, and are very willing to work OT without pay. I brought this up to her, and she says that it’s not like a big company and everyone has to put in a little more. She also brings up the guilt of autistic kids life and comfort depending on a little more hours of work.

I wanted to understand better so I made her an excel time tracker, and we found out she works about 50 hrs/week and rarely has time for lunch. I am honestly disheartened about her sacrificing so much for a job.

I am trying to be understanding, but I also don’t really give up on telling her she should just leave the office earlier and let her manager realise how valuable she is, and review all that she does to accommodate proper work hours. AITA?
