Am I being misclassified as a contractor?

First, I apologize if this isn’t the right sub to ask about this and I apologize if I sound clueless… because I honestly am and I don’t have anyone else I can ask. I’m 100% clueless when it comes to taxes. Also sorry if this gets long So I recently graduated college and got my first job ever. Options were slim and I was job hunting for a good while desperate to make any income at all. I don’t want to somehow dox myself (chances are slim anyways) so without giving out too much detail, I work in a hospital under a group of doctors in a certain department and the doctors classify me as a “contractor”. I’m not even sure if contractor and independent contractor are two different things, so again, apologies. I read that you should be classified as an employee if your employer provides you with tools…

I read that you should be classified as an employee if your employer provides you with tools to do your job, if they set your schedule, tell you how to do your job, etc. this is where I feel it might be a grey area for me, because of the work I do I handle surgical specimens so there’s a certain “way” I have to do it that they tell me. I’m also provided the station I work at with the blades, tools, computer, etc. They also tell me when to come into work next. They also hold me overtime sometimes and tell me when I can be done for the day. I tried asking for more hours a week but they said not right now because I still have more to learn.

Reading about the taxes IC have scares me because I’m new to all of this and am clueless and don’t want to owe more money than I would have to at a “normal job”. This job has given me more red flags along the way so I’m trying to look for a new one anyways but should I be filing for misclassification?
