Hello everyone. I live in British Columbia, Canada.
I was just wondering if anyone can help provide me with some answers for some stuff I'm going through at work.
My employer pulled me into the office a couple days ago. He stated that he is switching my shift to graveyards. I told him when I started that I can not do graveyard due to health issues. I have been receiving treatment for a rare neurological disease for the last year and he is aware of this. If I don't get a certain amount of sleep I'm at a high risk for seizure and stroke. I did graveyards for 4 years and it messed my body up so bad that my body stopped producing testosterone and now I need to apply a gel to my shoulders and armpits. The doctor advised i not do them ever again. I told the manager again that I can't do them and I refused to sign the papers. He told me I need to submit my 2 weeks. I refused to give him my 2 weeks and told him he can terminate me and give me severance. He said he does not owe me severance and that he will go through video surveillance on the cameras and find any reason he can to justify terminating me.
Is there anything I can do? I don't really know how to tale legal action, or have the money to do so. I also don't know who to contact in this situation. I'm already under a great deal of stress, I've been in constant pain for over a year because of my disease and I have an MRI in a week to find out what could be the cause.
Any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you.
