How do I handle a company hired unqualified external candidate?

I (29M) have worked with this company coming up on a year. I saw a position that was more favorable within the company. I spoke with my manager who reached out to the hiring manager of this position and asked about it. The hiring manager informed my manager I was the only internal candidate to apply. Eventually I reached out to a recruiter who set up the interview initially and she informed me the hiring manager was no longer with the company and that the position had been filled. A few days later I saw a post on LinkedIn for the same position, completely incidentally, I had applied for but the candidate who accepted the position is still in community college reviving their associate degree. This position requires a minimum of a Bachelors degree with 3-5 years of experience along with working with technical equipment, all of which I have. Is there anything to do going about this? Should I leave the company all together. Generally unsure of how to handle this situation at all.
