TLDR:
-
C-suite member I adored asked me to stay 7 months prior, when I resigned.
-
Like my manager, but they do not manage my work or understand it.
-
My Manager gave me 3.2 and stated I am worth way more but their boss would want details on why I am a 5, and they don’t have the communication skills to express my worth.
Details:
Received an almost “below average” (3.2/5) Annual Review after being advised by C-suite member and VPs that I have helped the organization accomplish feats they had been struggling with for 2 years, including investor requested dashboards. Despite these accomplishments, I have been given an unfair rating by my direct manager.
I asked my manager if she felt I was a “3.2” rating worker— she immediately started reassuring me I am far from it over and over and mentioned she had to give me this score, otherwise her boss would question her on why I deserve more.
Over the past months, I have managed all of my projects single handily, as well as theirs. Despite this, my manager is not being held accountable for their lack of communication, management, or project leadership.
Furthermore, seven months prior I had a member in leadership (mangers boss) attempt to force me out, because I was honest in discussing missteps that had taken place on a project I was leading. This resulted in a PIP, and once I was presented with the PIP, I provided my resignation to the manager.
Fortunately, my department's C-Suite member intervened and ultimately I did not have to sign any PIPs or bad reviews.
At this point, I feel my manager is unable to challenge her boss, as they have not been able to demonstrate their own accomplishments and are too afraid to speak up. This Annual Review furthermore serves as a reminder of how my accomplishments have not been properly recognized and honestly— I am a fuckking beast at my job! ugh.
I want to quit and let them sort it out, but I don’t know what decision to go with.
