So, I recently got hired to work for Advantage Solutions, a company that outsources people to give samples and demonstrate products in places like Kroger, Target, Wal-Mart, and Sam's Club. I finished my online training last month because of the due dates (having a hard time remembering the training due to Dissociative issues). And they told me to wait for my New Hire Kit to come in the mail, and then let them know so I can start doing events.
BUT. APPARENTLY my first day was yesterday. But I never got my new hire kit until this morning! Literally had it handed to me by the postman this morning! And I got emails saying “You missed an event”. I didn't even know I was scheduled for events! I thought they were waiting for me to tell them if I got my new hire kit or not, like my manager said! And even if I did know about it, what was I supposed to do!? Show up without my uniform, badge, and company card used to BUY the product I'm supposed to demonstrate!?
I don't know if I'm going to end up fired for this or not, nor do I know why this happened. Advantage has made mistakes before. Mistakes in the job interview process, (because adding my preferred name, as a trans person “caused a hiccup in their system”), and mistakes with giving me my credentials to access my online training in the first place. I can't even contact my manager because she is “out of office”.
I don't want to lose the job, as I've been hunting for almost a year now, and nobody in my area will hire me due to lack of experience. I always get ghosted after interviews, no matter how well I think they went. But at the same time, with how disorganized everything is, I'm already starting to HATE it.
If any of you have some advice, or can just let me know I'm not crazy for being pissed (this feels very similar to being gaslit), thanks.
