Asked for a raise and got asked to resign

So basically, I worked at a childcare center for a year and asked for a raise. I hadn't even told my boss how much of a raise I wanted before she told me no and asked me if this was my two weeks. I finished out the last two weeks but she made it hell for me. It was a child care center and I was highly respected by my coworkers, other bosses, and the parents. I even came in on my off days after school to help them out because they were critically understaffed. She then told all of the parents that I was leaving them because I was unhappy and gossiping about me with my coworkers. Anyways, I've found a new job now that pays more money except they don't give me enough hours so I'm actually making less than I was before :/ I'm glad to at least be out of there though.

To clarify: I was hired at a rate of $13/hr and that hadn't been touched since I was hired
