Asked to work beyond contract due to insufficent hours

I have been working as an intern for a small theater in development, and the current company is very small (everyone but me is volunteering or not on a long term contract). My contract expires soon, but I have only been working about 17 hours each week (and more hours have not been available) while my contact asks for 35. My boss is asking me to continue work virtually after my contract is over to “make up hours”, despite my taking almost every hour available and then some. Is she obligated to pay me for 35 hours if I work under that time and more hours were not available, or do I need to work extra after the contract ends to make up for that pay? The contract states nothing about not enough hours or working beyond that.
