Asked to work for free?

My boyfriend is a personal trainer, were in Texas. He is employed through a gym and given clients through that gym. Clients purchase a training plan and get an allotted amount of sessions. BF is paid PER session. Not hourly. His workplace managers are asking him and other trainers to build nutrition plans, meal plans, and workout plans. But there is no payment to these tasks. They aren't paid hourly, the work to cater these plans cannot be performed during the training session, they must be done outside of the session. Naturally, we asked “How will we be paid for these tasks?” The District Manager replies : “As a trainer, I guess you should want to provide the best experience for your client to give them the results they look for from working with you, you should want to do it” There is no incentive for doing these tasks. There is no incentive for doing these tasks. Management declared failure to provide these plans will result in disciplinary action.
What is our argument? Having difficulty finding specific labor laws that pertain to this situation.
Edit to add: Hourly pay IS available. He is paid to do online training courses (trainer training). They refused to allow them to clock in for hourly pay for this task.
