Been working at a pharmacy with post office in it for 7 months. Was hired as a post office clerk because I had a lot of experience in that role and manager included that I’d be expected to work as a cashier for the store as well since the two counters are connected. I was hired at $20/hr because of previous experience.
Since then I’ve taken over the role of manager of the post office since the previous one has retired. On top of that I’ve had to take on every single role in the store since it’s a small store and we’re short staffed. I’ve even been tasked with ordering stock from the manufacturer for the store which I don’t really see being a part of a cashier’s job but I took it on regardless. Tbh I think I bring more value than my coworkers who’ve been here for a year and some change.
I’ve been here for 7 months, everyone is easy to get a long with and I know I’m a good employee and I get a hold of things/learn very quickly. This job has zero benefits, has a long commute, and is high stress a lot of the times because I’m splitting myself between running the post office, answering the store phone, manning the cash, stocking shelves, preparing medication deliveries, ordering stock, taking delivery orders etc etc all day. I’m in my last year of university and will be looking for full time employment soon, but this isn’t a bad gig to hold me over. I think I deserve a raise, just not sure how to go about it/how much to ask for.
I’m in Canada.
