I work at a local cocktail bar/restaurant and the past few weeks people have been sick. Some have gotten Covid, others just sick but they come in with literally 20% of their voices. I then (of course) get sick and have been asking relentlessly for coverage. Of course no one can. As I’m not some NPC, I do NOT want to work when I’m sick. I hate using the immunocompromised excuse but my asthma is exacerbated from sickness. I have a doctor’s note that says I have a viral infection. I’ve just been sleeping because I can’t do anything else and running around at work would make me want to jump off a bridge. I send the note to my professors, they all tell me to stay home and feel better. I call the restaurant to tell them I won’t be able to come in again and I get absolutely destroyed and cursed out, saying how they’re sick of our bullshit and that they have a business to run and that I can’t come in until I have a doctor’s note. I have one, idiots, and I’m not risking my health just to get $40 tonight. They’re making me feel like absolute shit just because I’m sick. Now I’m spending the rest of my day wondering what the fuck I did.
