Rant time because I keep reading all your posts and I can feel the rage from my old job brewing again, being reminder that these people are scum. Quick backstory, I have a heart condition called POTS, and at the time of getting hired, I wasn't aware of my condition. When I graduated high school, I got my first full time job, so I went into it with a lot of naivety, and was taken advantage of. I applied to be a cashier for a hardware store, and at this store we had 2 managers, one was a power hungry old bat, and the other was a 35 year old who didn't give two shits about anyone, anything, or her job, meaning she'd made us pick up for her slack when she felt like it. Well, not long after working there, I started to become sick, and constanly was lightheaded…

Hospitality is draining
It's been a year since I've started working at a hotel. This is my first hotel job. I work at the front desk. I actually wanted to work in the hotel industry, I mean the hotel discounts + talking to different people from different places and occupations. I genuinely wanted to get into event planning in the hotel industry. It can be a pretty rewarding job. I work for a good company and I have great managers. However, this shit is fucking tiring. It's draining. These people go insane when they don't get a specific floor or when they have to pay for parking or breakfast. My company says “When you have a passion for helping people, then hospitality is the right job for you”. Fucking bullshit because all I am helping are entitled rich people. Every day I ask myself, “How does anyone last so long in this industry?”.…
First hurdle on newish place
Hello guys, throwaway acc as colleagues are on reddit as well lmao So I've been with this company for ~two years now as a network engineer. Recently they've discovered they I have a certain set of skills and they were very eager to make use of of them. This is outside of my job requirement and description as it has to do with electronics. By using my skills they can save up to 900usd per device ( they have like 500 + of this model) and asked me to provide them with some prototypes. Obviously I agreed and showed them what I can do and they are super happy with it and wanted to move along with this so called project. Now the time has come for me to tell them that this is not going to be free and basically they will have in house support at any give…
Workplace injury and job search anxiety.
Honestly this is a bit of a vent post. Recently I got injured on the job by slipping and falling on some soapy water from a leak that was reported months ago while in non slip shoes. This caused severe leg pain for over a week. (It’s been about 10 days at this point) I got most of the beginning paperwork done but at this point I’m worried if I’ll be able to actually see a doctor for follow ups to diagnose my injury within the appropriate time frame. (I’ve called at least 5 places and mostly just got voicemails) I started going back to work to just try and work through it since I’m so anxious about money at this point but it’s honestly been wearing me down mentally a lot more than I would like to admit. I started talking to a lawyer but honestly I don’t know…
I effin hate working 2nd and 3d shift
I work at a factory, everyone is in a Union. 1st shift is for people that have been working there for 20 years+, entitled, prestigious, 8hrs a day, and have a good work life balance. When people said 2nd shift was the best of both worlds, they’re lying. It’s the worst of both worlds. If 1st shift f**ks up their production, we 2nd shift people have to deal with their mess. 3d shift is a bunch of temporary workers or newbies that are trying to make it and a majority of them call out on the weekends or every other night. This Saturday I worked at a position I didn’t sign up for, but my whole team got scheduled to do this 2nd shift, and I was like screw it I’ll just put in 8hrs and leave. Come to find out 3 people from 3d shift called out and management…
I'm stuck, I have made it aware to others in management of what was going on. I showed one in management on the same day that they loaded up their pickup with what thier workers had worked on for the past week. He did go forward with it and was told to mind his own business. It is like working with AL Capone and his hit men. Yes pictures all kinds of them, they tell the story by them self. My cost of what they done on just this one is over 10,000 dollars on the low side up to 17000. On the high side. I have top Brass coming in soon, I have indirectly asked for a transfer from a old very respected senior manager that was up running a trial, that request has been giving directly to one of the brass coming. Keep my mouth shut, or do…
Getting more work than others?
Hi everyone! For context, I am in a team at work and we were recently assigned work for a new project. However, out of a group of 8, only me and my direct manager were assigned the tasks. Mind you, she gets paid more than me. I am just confused… other team members have been here longer than me. I’m good at my job but its so unfair. I’ve also been the only one picked for other projects. Is “unfair” something I can bring up to my boss? Or is there another way to say “leave me alone, I just want to do my job like the others”. I’m just frustrated… I’ve already been thinking of a job change soon and this situation is only making me want to start job searching sooner. Let me know of any advice, thanks!
I am currently leaving work at like 5 mins to midnight after being called back in cause my “friend” was sick and couldnt finish his shift. To then come back in 10 hours for a 10-6 cause my boss asked me to come in on my day off (for the second week in a row). So honestly, is being reliable and always the yes guy worth it? Also side note, how much trouble would I get into if I told my boss I couldnt the 10-6 im tired and not feeling great and I just want my day off. Ive already worked 40 hours lol
I started a job at a daycare center 2 weeks ago. Aside from the insane overtime everyone is forced to work, it doesn’t seem too bad. Pay is obviously shit (the overtime pay is nice), but I was tired of job hopping so I’m planning to stay here a while. Even with this recent incident with the manager…. There was supposedly this “Fall Festival” on Friday that lasted from when the center closed until 8:30. I guess it was for the families of the kids that went to the daycare to do some fall games and maybe recruit some new customers. I was told about this on Wednesday, 2 days before. I had someone coming to stay with me on Friday that I needed to go pick up on that day, which this was planned weeks in advance. When I was informed I was supposed to work at this festival…
