I just called in sick and it turns out my old manager has resigned and a new area manager was given the position, I have inflammatory bowel disease which at the moment remains untreated due extremely lengthy hospital wait lists and this causes and abundance of issues in my day to day life including vomiting and diarrhoea and mainly stomach pain. I made the company aware of this during my initial interview so that they would be aware there would be days where my stomach problems wouldn’t permit me to go into work and this has been so far fine, I have only had to take around 2 days sickness (one of which was me being rushed to hospital for emergency treatment and pain relief) the other was to get some run of the mill tests done (blood, urine stool etc) so today would be the first day I took…

Waking up for work
Is honestly the worse part. If I could sleep till I wanted and then come into work I’d be much happier.
https://archive.ph/Wykei TL:DR Bosses are mad people are using all their sick days ( like it's up a fraction post COVID) especially for mental health. So many quotes to choose but this one: Crystal Williams, chief human resources officer at global business payments company Fleetcor, which has around 5,000 U.S. employees. She suspects early-career employees aren’t taking cues from older co-workers in the same way now that five days a week at the office is no longer the norm. Prepandemic, Fleetcor workers in their 20s and 30s took one or two sick days a year, she says. Now, it’s more like three to five. “The accounting team is not happy with me providing this time off, because it’s a liability for the company,” she says of the extra cost of sometimes adding staffing to ensure adequate coverage amid absences. Each day that passes, I feel less bad
I work for a small company offering consulting services to very high end clients. I’ve spent the last year in their sole sales and service role at the Director level, absolutely grinding and being treated like garbage regularly by rich assholes who always get what they want in life. In June I accepted a new role within the company that is meant to be internally facing (managing staff and processes), and I was so, so relieved and happy. It was the end of august by the time the person filling my role started, and I spent 4+ weeks doing both jobs while training her. So it’s been about a week of finally having those duties off my plate, it’s glorious… and my boss has started putting a lot of the worst of it back with me because the new person needs to focus on just sales. She has commission as…
My new job is overwhelming
Info: female, 22y/o Hello there, I've been working for three days at a family-owned mini mall and it's overwhelming. I manage the cash register and count thousands of dollars by hand, mop the floors, wipe the counter, check the remaining oil at the gas station, and do administrative work for the other shops, manage the inventory of the car parts shop, etc. The family has two(white+black) dogs running around the shop sometimes. The white dog appears to have a broken leg and is in the office more often. When I'm sweeping, I find dog poop and pee. My co-worker sweeps it up into a dustpan and mops the floor. I clean the poop and pee when I see it too. Next week It will be my turn to mop. At the gas station, they have gas attendants so people can pay directly with their card/ cash without stepping out…
Never trust the MAN
I've been consulting for a small hedge fund for the last year, 100% remote. About 6 months ago they offered a couple of us FTE roles saying nothing would change, you'd still be remote. I didn't take it, but another guy did. They just told him yesterday that he has to move to either Chicago or NYC so he can be in the office 3 days/week or he's being terminated. I feel bad for him, but seriously, what did you expect? Company doesn't have room for all these previously remote workers so they just stuff them into huge conference rooms with what look like cafeteria lunch tables…packed in like sardines. No assigned workspaces so if you show up and there isn't any room, you have to go home and that day doesn't count towards your 3 onsite days. Dress code for everyone mirrors the traders, so no more jeans/T-shirts/Polo shirts.…
I 26F work in a company, my job is all the behind the scenes work, so I never deal with customers or even have to go to events. Because my job requires me to think a lot, my concentration face looks kinda like this emoji and this emoji 🤔 mixed together. I have a high stressful job. Anyway, he told me he would fire me if I don’t smile while I’m doing my job. The ironic thing is, I do my job the best and get praised by the vice, who said they’ll not let me get fired. However, I decided I’ll find another job. But my co-workers are begging me to stay. Even one said that if I leave, they’ll leave too. But why do I need to smile ???
