Not really sure if this is the right place to put this but im taking an Intro to Business class in college and this honestly hit me as ridiculous. Like are you suuuure we want more responsibility and tasks instead of raises..? Which minimum wage worker told you that?? And where did you make them up?? Kinda salty that i lost three points for this shit i aint even gonna lie lol (there was a third question that i didnt picture that was basically saying the same shit) Also i know it says “Do not check money/pay. Minimum wage us already increasing”; First of all, LMAOOO that sounded like a salty corpo ceo that just got hit with union stuff wrote that- cost of living is also going up faster and while part of that IS because minimum wage is going up and that means ppl start charging higher prices…
Imma get straight to the point I work in a warehouse and yesterday I was a floater and when I came back from the bathroom all the trucks were cleaned up except for one truck which had two guys in their in so I decided to wait in another truck since we had like 7 minutes till break but my teams leads got on my case about it and telling me that these guys are sweating and stuff ( first of all they let the truck get like that because all they do is talk and in my opinion the team leads should've help them if it was so bad but in reality they didn't help them and one of them said I wasn't acting braindead and that kinda hurt and also they said I would float for a few hours but that ended turning into the whole day so…
Working for big corporations my whole career has me a bit jaded, but there's one thing that has gotten me through these long and painful years of existence of wage slavery: SEE YOUR EMPLOYER AS THE ENEMY AND TRUST NO ONE. It's that simple. I've climbed the corporate ladder with ease frankly and am just a month or so away from making it into the 6 figure club. NEVER stay loyal to an employer, as you're the dirt beneath their feet. NEVER make coworkers your friends (there are very rare exceptions, but they are usually crabs in the proverbial bucket) Lie and embellish like a motherfucker on your resume — this has gotten me the most $$$ in starting salary as I hop from job to job — fuck it NEVER show your true self to your boss or coworkers NEVER accept mistreatment from your boss or coworkers. Use deceipt…
What to do now? Sick of it all
So I’ve finally been pushed and want to call it quits. Dot point summary. I work for a NFP in healthcare. My boss is the CEO and has a dual role as a Director in another part of the company. The politics of the environment we work in is very tricky due to industry pressures The job however has great WFH benefits and no commute My Boss: has a demanding and complicated job that often pulls them away from their family has been known to scream and yell when something goes wrong shows up late and will not say good morning when they walk past everyone’s desks often works until midnight every night and on weekends has highly unpredictable moods and is very moody and throws tantrums is very snakey and cuts costs at the detriment of the rest of us deliberately underpays to save money highly ambitious and very…
at my very first job for a manufacturing company i had a very weird boss who would stare at me in silence when i was working,, and stand in the doorway and just stare in silence, but leaving when i looked up he would stay there staring at us working very obviously for a long time or until we looked up he claimed to not know certain laws and customs for employee wellbeing but would say it as if it was a joke and he did know just by the tone, he would talk casually pretty normally most of the time but there was an odd shift i could just feel when he would apparently decide to stare at us and joke about there being no HR because he didn’t know it would be necessary im also pretty sure he lived in the warehouse for many different reasons such as…
I think I just need to vent. I’m a highly skilled individual contributor at a big startup company and should have a manager title, but the company has instead been dangling the promotion over my head for over a year now. (I’ve been at the company longer). I have trained three people in two different roles. I started in a role, and within two weeks both my manager and peer in the department quit. I quickly took over the functions of one director and one manager — alone. They told me they couldn’t justify giving me a manager title without a direct report, so I was given a direct report (but no title change). Then within a month the company underwent layoffs (including the direct report). I wasn’t even notified until the morning of, when they asked me why their access was shutoff. I had no idea. My mom died…
Overachievers
Can't stand em. Especially when you have insider knowledge that the place is crap, bosses won't promote, and more work just guarantees more work and higher expectations from management. Unless you know the hard work is going to pay off, just stfu browse reddit, play video games, or watch TV. Thanks for listening.
I Want To Work, Not Die, A-Holes
I spent almost 20 years in the commercial construction industry before having major health issues just before the pandemic. As a result, I applied for, and received permanent disability. However, I enjoyed what I did and Let’s face it, it pays a hell of a lot more than disability. So, as a result, I decided that I would try to return to work within the industry in some capacity. I have all that experience, and lot to offer. Even in my diminished capacity, I’m capable of more than some of the people I encountered over the years in the business. However, without getting into detail, there are some hard lines that I cannot safely flirt with crossing. As a result, those conditions are non-starters if they cannot be met. So I interviewed a couple of companies and laid all of that out. Both of them were receptive and said that…
