Posted this on findapath and got zero engagement. Maybe the antiwork folks will be more receptive. Laid off from my job of three years. I'm pissed but trying to be positive and view it as the shot in the arm I needed. I've been wanting to do something better for a while and there was no future at that place. 27 and have just under 40K in savings plus I can get unemployment for 6 months so I'm not gonna starve. Right now venom and anger are my motivator – I want to find a better job and then tell that waste of humanity who let me go exactly what I think of him (nasty stuff I'm not gonna type here). That's my fuel right now. Anyway, despite everyone telling me I have options I don't see it. I have a worthless degree in history that obviously isn't worth shit…

Attendance policy
Doing an informal poll. What is your work attendance policy? Ours uses the points system. Follow up question, if you do have the points system, can any of those points be excused/waived with a doctor’s note?
Ovet the years, I've noticed that “low-skill” jobs like delivery driver and warehouse worker not only hire slobs and morons who break equipment and don't punish them, but also seem obsessed with spending as little as possible on maintenance, even if it fucks us over out on the job.
I had two permatemp jobs in my career. You are called an “independent contractor” and file your taxes as one so that the employer could skip out on the same wages and benefits that they offer normal employees on top of getting a tax break. Another added bonus for the company is that they could “terminate the contract” at any time leaving you with little to no recourse. You have to do everything they tell you to, and you have almost no flexibility at all in terms of hours, when/how to bill, when you do your work, etc. If you try to act like a real independent contractor they will throw you out. There are thousands and thousands of permatemps being misclassified, but none have the financial power to go toe to toe with lawyers of corporations. It is a big problem but I almost see nobody talking about, maybe…
What is the pettiest way to quit my job?
This is the shortest time I’ve been at a job before deciding to quit. Everyone was too busy to train me. They kept sending me home early (it was hourly) because they were “low on hours.” I need my hours to eat. I’ve already lined up an 8-5 full time job starting in the next few weeks. It’s a job as a dog bather. I don’t even know why I thought it was a good idea. Manager told me COMPLETELY different things about what this job would be like when I first started. Said I would be full time, but a couple times in the 3 weeks I’ve been here, they took me off the schedule and didn’t tell me until I showed up the day of which is EXTREMELY inconvenient. I probably work about 60-75% of the hours they promised me, which is making me take a hit financially.…
So I sat a two hour meeting with boss praising us on what great work the team has done for the last year. And then finishes off with “I really don’t know how to thank you all for the hard work”! Like ….. money?????? I mean this is the person who signs off the paychecks……… Our salaries are dependent on your decision???? What do you mean you don’t know how to thank us?? Whatever happenned to bonuses, salary increases and promotions? Did we just stop doing that and switch to pizza party instead? Please tell me I’m not crazy for finding this statement deranged.
Tired of waiting for the government to give us ours? Let's show people how awesome UBI can be so that they can vote on it themselves! Please support if you can, but liking and sharing is more than enough 🙂
