Example. They were hiring for a pastry maker for $20 an hour. Sounded fair so I looked at the qualifications. “4 Years experience” So I emailed them and said “4 YEARS EXPERIENCE ???? TO BAKE PASTRIES??? ARE YOU FUCKING NUTS???” Another was a job that was paying minimum wage to literally use your own car. No fuel or gas expenses compensated. I gave them a good screaming through the email. “MINIMUM WAGE TO USE OUR OWN CAR?? ARE YOU NUTS????” Also the jobs that don't post the pay, I'll send a quick email with caps lock subject line. “WHATS THE PAY???????” It doesn't accomplish anything other than make me feel a little recompense sticking it to these cheapskates. How the hell are you going to pay a licensed math instructor only $17 an hour? Why do you expect a pastry Baker to have four years experience?

I work in a soul-crushing family-owned business which I have been with for over 9 years. Over the course of my tenure here I've worked toward effectively making work easier and cheaper for the company. Unfortunately, my higher-ups don't see the department as an important role since we don't generate money. As a manager, I have no authority to make any technical-related decisions without first getting approval from various parties. Even when an in-person discussion is done and everyone is on the same page if the majority of the company doesn't like the plan it gets rolled back. It puts me in a position where I cannot effectively govern the technical side putting us behind of modern standards. I'm writing this to vent as my manager requested the rules and responsibilities of my department which I created and submitted on time as requested. Only to be told that they still…

Quitting without two weeks
So my Yearly hire date hits October 2nd and my 2 weeks of leave renews at that time. I have another job lined up on October 3rd and I’m quitting on the 2nd. The state of CA says that companies have to pay out accrued leave whether upon termination or resignation. Are there any concerns I need to worry about for them to not pay my leave out? To add, family owned business not a huge corporation TIA
Besides getting paid for your labor, are there any small pleasures that make your job a little less awful? My work place is only 10min away from my home so I always go and walk my dog on my lunch break. Also, since it's in the construction field, I don't have to dress up. I wear leggings and a T-shirt with sneakers daily. While I hate most aspects of this place, those two things make it bearable. How about you?
Florida makes it really hard to claim missing wages, what should I do? contact the company and make a professional email asking for them to give me the money before I escalate it? Or should I make a small claims? Like it’s only a few hundred dollars but I was let go for no reason and I will not except not getting my money. I earned and worked for that. I’m not working for free.! Mind you this was a REALLY SHITTY retail store. Probably lowest you can go when it comes to pay and respect.
Criminalize wage theft!
How to deal with overachievers
got a new coworker. at first it wasn’t an issue but now it feels like this person is starting to throw jabs at me for not keeping up with them and also humble bragging about all the extra stuff they’re doing. i’m currently just ignoring this person whenever the conversation becomes about them and how extra they are. feels like it’s kind of working, but every now and then this person would get a second wind. checking in here to see how others have dealt with these types. tysm.
Coworkers who overshares?
The first day of work, these are the questions the coworkers ask me before asking my name: “ Hi I’m 40 years old, how old are you?” “ Hi I’m gay” I seriously think these people have mental issues.
