A short rant. The pizza party has finally come to our worksite. I do not feel appreciated. Take your pizza, your rhetoric, and your “thanks” away from me. just venting my spleen. not asking for advice. waiting to be eliminated due to my age. meanwhile, the marker art is going well.

First day was also the last day….
I started training at a call center today and we were in training for less than two hours before the VP of the center came in and let us all go. Let us know it’s going to be slow season and with the economy the way it is they no longer have a need for us. Just Friday I received an email about how excited they were to have us and parking and what not. I don’t even know what to say…. What a shit show. I left my previous job with Amazon because the hours were really starting to take a toll, but holy cow. I guess I’m going to go back.
What should I do? They want me to take it home every day and charge it for 4-6 hours
Work exists within the confines of my life, not the other way around. So with that in mind I'm not going to go home early on Sunday just to be better rested for Monday. I'm staying out, doing what I want and if I'm tired then next day then I work at a tired pace. No more voluntarily giving more time to a job by sacrificing my life.
Wife and I are travel nurses. Had to cancel our contract as she was unexpectedly hospitalized and we were 2k miles from home. She applied for unemployment 3/23, kept submitting stuff but was not being approved. Fast forward to 6/23, she’s hospitalized for a month again after still not working since she applied due to ongoing medical treatment and has a physician note that was received by the PA unemployment people. We receive notice she does not qualify for financial benefits so we just give up and make it work on just my part time paycheck. Fast forward to last week. We receive notice that her employer is appealing her unemployment benefits. We are very confused because last we heard she was denied. We look at the exhibits in the packet and notice that at some point, they fucked up and changed her employer to a company in our state…
I work my ass off in a non climate controlled warehouse and I’m specifically really sensitive to heat and I sweat easily. Last week I bought a small handheld fan so I could at least get some relief. I was just told by a supervisor they are not approved and I have to put it away. This just pisses me off so fucking much. They don’t give a shit about us or how we feel they just want to exercise their minuscule power. The thing that pisses me off the most is I just have to take it. I can’t do anything. I’d love to quit just to stick it to them but I need a job to feed myself. Fuck America and fuck this shitty work culture.
Hi- I work in the payroll industry and I'm flabbergasted by the amount of people who do not review their paystubs. This can cause a lot of turmoil. Please please PLEASE review them on a recurring basis and during periods of change. I recommend reviewing them twice a year minimum: beginning and midyear (January and July-ish). As mentioned above, I also recommend reviewing them during periods of change (like when you're expecting a raise or after open enrollment). Here's what to check: Your pay rate your hours The math (hours * rate, noting that overtime rate may not be listed as 1.5x your regular rate on the paper, but the math should still work out) Deductions – are you paying for anything you aren't expecting? Are you missing anything? Taxes – you should have federal income tax, state income tax (depending on the state), Medicare, social security. You may also…
How did anyone do this?
How did anyone work jobs they don't want to do for their entire life? You're telling me you work a job that doesn't line up with your purpose in life for 40+ years and everyday you dredd going to work? It blows my mind we have to do this. Meaningless work. I don't think I can do this for my whole life. The 9-5 office job life sucks. Sorry for the rant, just having a slight existential crisis in my late 20s lol
Has anyone ever replied something along the lines of “It's ok, I accepted a job at a far superior company” or something snarky? This is yet another basic ass, easy job that I get rejected from even though the interviews went well. I'm especially pissed about this one because not only could I do it in my fucking sleep, the pay was higher than most customer service jobs (although still garbage relatively speaking). The implication I'm not qualified is fucking bullshit. Almost tempted to just reply “fuck you” to the email. It's not just a donotreply@email.
Overworked and Fresh out of Grad school
This is just a rant. I know it’s partly my fault for my lack of setting boundaries but man I’m so tired. First off, I just graduated with my MA in May and was having difficulty finding jobs that had enough hours. They started they were full time but I would work 20 max. Applied and got my current job doing administrative work, however I’m the only person working in 8 (now 9) buildings in my area. Everyone else is in the southern part of the state. They hired someone with me to do part time another job and then help me with my responsibilities but I don’t know what happened they decided their personality/skills didn’t fit the role so they are just responsible for their own duties. I did vocalize multiple times that I am feeling overwhelmed, and how I’ve been working 60 hour work weeks (I’m also pregnant…
