I just got a bonus
“I would like to take this opportunity to recognize your efforts. Thank you for all your hard work in assisting the team with the [redacted] project. You have been recognized with a bonus of $32.50. We appreciate your hard work and dedication.” …$32.50 I get paid $28/hr and my bonus is $32.50.
I have been working at a startup since September of 2021. I was hired for one role full time, but the entire duration of my employment I have been 100% performing a different role than what was in my offer letter. I have been accepting and completing these tasks this entire time with no problem, and for the first time today I asked my boss why aren't we giving some of these tasks to the actual employee that they belong to. My boss asked everyone to leave the meeting room and then proceeded to berate me. I recently just landed a new job two weeks ago and they want me to start next week. I've tried to beat around the bush to get a temperature check on how it would go over if I put in my notice soon, my boss did NOT respond well to my questions, and said…
In an interview today, I was asked the question, “what is your plan if you don’t get this job?”. I was kind of taken aback and replied something like, “to keep looking for a job in this field, as I am currently looking for a full-time job”. This was my third interview with the company, and honestly this question kind of came out of the blue, like what do you expect me to do, just die? What was the point of that question, and has anyone else ever been asked that question before? Just trying to gain some insight.
I need to vent, I'm so furious. A good friend of mine is getting screwed for doing what he was told. Small business, “like family,” all the red flags. Was told “not to worry” about certain things. Moved on to other work, which the “family” didn't take kindly to, and now those certain things are coming back to bite him. Small business owners are not your friend; they are just as big of greedy bastards as the big corporations. Don't trust any of them. They are not your friend, and they will throw you under the bus if it's at all expedient.
I’ve been getting physical symptoms from stress due to the workload falling solely on my shoulders after my colleague left. My boss told me there would be no recruiting for a replacement I told her I really need a 2nd person. I’m mentally and physically exhausted but even when I take PTO I’m still exhausted because the work waits for me and builds up. I’m drowning with the inbox growing by 180 demanding emails everyday and I cannot cope alone with the volumes which previously needed 2 people to manage. Her response? It is manageable, you’re not struggling. Well i guess that’s the end of that then, I’m cured! s
I know crazy and controversial title. Now this isn't me supporting corporations either because they suck too. This post is about a small vet clinic I work at, which I'm hoping to get out of within the next month or sooner, where we had a good system going for quite some time. The owner was really cool and nice at the beginning of my time here, but she quickly became a nightmare as time went on. We would have people wait outside in their cars while we took care of the pet inside and had the vet talk to them over the phone. Simple and easy. Kept the very small staff safe from exposure. But now the pandemic is “over” and we should let everyone inside and stack pets and people on top of each other with barely any staff in our small building. We all knew the owner, who…
