I was given the standard “you got this man you can grab a shovel and clean it up”, by text message, my response was a simple two letter text “NO”. It was on a piece of cardboard that was trapped under the dumpster. So I refused to clean it, a co-worker delivery person took pitty on me and became my hero by tossing the poop in the dumpster. So fucking gross. I don't get paid enough for this shit.

I MEANT INTENTIONAL… ITS BEEN A LONG DAY*** I have a pretty stable schedule each week. I have been here for 4 years, at P-smart. I am a dog trainer, but trained in all departments. So that means I work in every department doing the work of about 4 people per day. Let's look at my Wednesday closing night. This is a big night for me, with 4 hour long training classes from 3pm-7pm. When I started here, after my classes I was able to help other people but there was no pressure. Each department had an employee pretty much. Stocking, register, customer service, and petcare, and me the trainer. Eventually the cashier was also the only person available for customer service and stocking/recovering. Cashier, petcare, trainer. Last week, was my normal week. There was a cashier, manager, petcare, and me in training. After my classes at 7 I did…

I'm a department manager at a grocery store. I hired a new employee and after crunching the numbers I was told I can offer this guy $19.96/hour. I asked if we could just round it up to $20/hour. Boss said no, we had to follow company policy. After I receive the email with this guidance I call one of my many superiors involved in approving these decisions. I say “come on man, we can't fork out the extra 4 cents?” He's as nice as he can he about it and explained that it's not his call and we're essentially just doing what we're being told to do. But what really got under my skin was hearing the big boss and another one of his douchebag assistants in the background of the call. Saying shit like “Why should we give him the extra 4 cents?” And “Why does he deserve that?”…
Original: https://www.reddit.com/r/antiwork/comments/15d8zr3/my_prospective_manager_changed_his_mind_during/ I decided to just wait it out and see what they said, rather than rescind. They got back to me after about a month, and rejected me. The HR person said the team talked after the interview, and decided to pursue someone else who was more well suited for the job. She admitted that the work remote discussion at the end was a large contributor. She also added, “This is likely not the news you were hoping to hear, let me know if you'd like to set up a call to discuss.” I responded back with, “I'm glad you found someone better suited for the job. Admittedly, the hour and half commute would have been very difficult for me. Thanks, -Similar_Perception” And that was the end of that. Good news though, I did get a full remote job with better pay elsewhere. Thank you all for your comments…
Make it make sense. Hired “…because of my skillset, not just the project.” This is what I was told when I was asked during the interview what my priority is and I responded, “Job security.” Need to change my approach to my career. Bc of my skill set I need to spend the rest of it with 5-10 hours a week dedicated to searching for the next thing. I get hit up all the time by recruiters looking for 3 months, 6 months, 10 months and that seems to be how it works for what I do…despite how they sell it during the interview process. Project obligation fulfillment with the *hope* that the biz development department will have something ready when it's done. To win, I have to figure out a way to make (SenorPea) a contracting company and not an employee so that this is MY advantage, not theirs.…
$34 to my name. Stranded as my car broke down and I can’t afford a mechanic. I’m crushed. I’m(25f) crying. I’m so done. done. It’s been hell of a year. Found out my ex bff of 25 years had an affair with my now ex husband. Got a divorce. Been trying to get out of 10k debt for 1 year now. It’s almost paid off but I can successfully say I’m in the rat race. I’m trying to build my career in cybersecurity. I have an awesome internship , and it pays 20$ and hour. I’ve been trying to pay off my debt to get certified and back to school. But when I get paid it goes to my credit card. My credit card is low limit due to my score. I then use my card for living expenses (gas and food mainly). My cards are maxed out. I get…
I never thought that it was something to rave about. You worked really really hard your whole life, submitted hundreds of applicants, prepared every day, and through incredible determination and will… you got an average paying job? The work doesn't equal the reward. What about people who want to live outside of work, or have hobbies and families? I'm always getting job advice where I should work harder on one this, obtain this next thing, do this and that. I'm not competitive enough! Yeah, maybe I'm not, but in order to be competitive I have to sacrifice my life? It's just a job. The industry (tech in particular) feels like a constantly moving goalpost. You can't get a job with a high school diploma anymore. You can't get a job with a college degree anymore. You can't get a job with entry-level certifications anymore. You can't get a job if…
I read how the ultra rich were warned that the working class will have pitch forks soon at a conference. One of them suggested putting collars on us that could kill us, this was also for his security when he went into the bunker. Why are we still working? If we made towns of our own and went back to the way things were OR set our own economy:…. What could they do? If millions upon millions reset and focus on their small community – they would be fucked.
