My coworkers were awesome. It’s a family owned Italian restaurant, I was hired as a server. I have just under two years of experience in this role. I have only ever served breakfast and this was my first time serving dinner. The owner was a rude, condescending asshole. First shift; owners brother tells me to shadow server. About an hour into the shift the owner shows up and calls me over. “What are you doing?” I’m shadowing Johny. “Why? You’re supposed to be a server. Don’t just stand there and watch. Jump in and serve.” Instantly contradicting orders from the two of them. So I jump in. I start clearing tables and running food. I run a couple of plates of fish. Owner calls me back over; “That was completely wrong. You didn’t put any garnish on the fish. You put the food down and just walk away? Why not…

Performane review – wrong answers only
I have a performance review on monday. My team is relying on me though the boss is not gonna admit that. I have no prospects in the company. What can I demand? Wrong answers only.
Manager avoiding Performance Review
I work at a startup, where technically I'm the only person in my department. I'm basically doing 3-4 roles that an analytics team does (which I've been praised for). It's been almost a year & I had requested for a performance review from my manager (in hopes that I get my bonus). Nothing has happened for over 2 months (I have a feeling that the company doesn't care enough for its' employees, they have no HR). I feel underpaid given the value that I'm providing to the company. Given that I've reminded them 3-4 times over the past 2 months, and nothing has happened, is there a way out of this besides forgetting about it and just switching companies? In that case, what would be a reasonable notice period (there is nothing in my contract).
So I started a new job a few weeks ago traveling and doing telecom work. The company I started with begged me to come to work for them because they needed the help. They had me come to work the first week, but after that they told me they were having a problem on the site, and we would have to hold back another week. It’s been a month now and every week their excuses change. I’m broke as a joke and having to pinch for Pennie’s. I need to at the very least draw unemployment until I can go back to work but I’m not sure if they’ll let me considering I haven’t technically been laid off or fired. I think is what got them was, my 2 buddies and I started with them all together, and they were going to have one of my buddies work somewhere else…
I don’t trust anyone I work for
They are all fake jerks. They treat anyone not in a supervisor role like trash. If you aren’t in the club you are really invisible. It didn’t used to be like this. People used to treat everyone with respect. I do not respect anyone I work for. Honestly the place would run better without them. They dont make decisions- they don’t make schedules. They only order us around when one of their friends needs something or if something goes wrong I put in applications every day but let’s face it. Every place is like this.
Demoted during all-hands meeting
After going above and beyond and working through the holy weekend, my boss demoted me on a zoom call in front of the whole team. I am not a confrontational person, but I unmuted and gave them a piece of my mind! That’s not fair or good to do! They were shocked and never saw that coming. After reaching out to a competitor and telling about my experience and interest in leaving, they offered me a better job than I had before. Completely remote with a live-able wage and employee communal garden space. I was demoted on zoom….I quit by email!
When I went to clock in my co worker said “Hey, did you put your two weeks in?” I said no, and he went on how they just got some guy to replace me. So I left, I was night shift and told my other coworkers working I'm out. I informed my boss that I am leaving and didn't appreciate him now at least informing me of his plans to let me go. Instead I would of been fired out of the blue and replaced like that. I feel bad quitting on my shift but, to me thats just disrespectful I've given my time and effort and even came in on days that doesn't fit with my schedule.
I'm switching industries. I had this manager for a while and he has no humanity in him. Sees you as a machine and micromanages you. One time I got a life threat from someone outside of work and told him about it, he just said ok but we have files that we need to package and work on. On Friday I left work for a couple hours for a personal issue, and told him when I was gonna be back. Then he proceeded to ask another boss is it worth it for me to come back if it's slow, and that if I wanna get paid I should just come back. And I said if you don't want me to come back I don't have to. While I was out I ran into a parked car while trying to park because I was thinking how annoying this manager is. I…
This guy has worked here for a little over a month and he does absolutely nothing. Him and my coworker call out all of the time and he has only requested ME to give him a doctors note. I just called out last night after my shift(requesting off the 17-19 {doctors approval}) and my doctor note states that I come back on the NINETEENTH. He texts me this and he knows I’m 19 and live alone and have bills to pay. Im quite literally the ONLY engineer who does any work here. (I start A WAY better job on Oct. 9 because of this) I just want advice and possibly your input on how you feel about this. He’s the one covering my shift for two more days (so a total of 3 shifts). This guy also claimed that I need to come to work when I’m sick and that…
