My company got bought out by a larger company earlier this year. Every single monthly staff meeting since, the VP has stated “Remember PTO is a privilege, not a right” I get 21 days PTO which is for vacation and sick time . Have you ever heard this statement before? What do you think? So far the culture here seems to realy be about controlling their employees which is very offputting.

Toxic attitudes in higher education
MBA Course – Discussion on organizational culture – one person starts on that no one has work ethic anymore and blames the millennials and complains that they don't want to stay late at work anymore. That we are all entitled. Then they started on how schools don't give their kids enough homework and how that is ruining them as future workers. I might have gotten a little worked up about the millennials comment. My response to his rant: I agree that there is a shift in the way employees perceive their roles and the amount of effort they put into their work. However, I disagree with the notion that it is primarily limited to millennials. Many millennials are almost 40 years old (known as elder millennials) and have been working for over two decades. As someone responsible for interviewing and hiring for my organization, I can say that I have…
Dodge a bullet
Earlier this year I was called by an old employer who was asking me if I was interested in coming back to them as a batch maker. I said no thanks I'm happy where I am, they said I was making $16 when I left them and a batcher makes 20 an hour. I still said no they offered to pay me 21.50. I just said I work for a rival company sitting on my ass making close to $30 an hour please stop calling. Almost 3 months after that call the plant was shut down I could of been jobless and those asshats knew and were gonna mess me up. 8 years ago they had 10 plants, now they down to 3 I give them maybe another 10 years before they close for good.
And to add insult to injury, that “27,000 taka” is less than $250 USD… per month. Asshole bosses are in every country.
How much is a CEO allowed to make?

“Joe Salant, who grew up in an affluent New Jersey family, became a born-again Christian after coming out of drug rehab when he was in his early twenties, having spent six months in jail for drug possession. Recently, he has become part of the American Renewal Project, which aims to have a pastor from “every church in America” run for elected office by 2024. Salant preaches a Christian nationalist ideology that positions the church at the heart of all aspects of American society. ” oh yeah, he's known for rapping about Ted Cruz and selling industrial-grade bleach tablets for curing autism. https://www.vice.com/en/article/y3w5xw/this-rapping-preacher-is-selling-bleach-to-parents-trying-to-treat-autism-in-kids Killing kids and spreading viral ideas for profit. “Autism? Yeah, I mean it’s a common treatment,” Salant said, according to a recording of a phone call obtained by Ireland-based activist Fiona O’Leary and shared with VICE News. “We’re not allowed to recommend [our products] for it…
I was an assistant manager at a shitty alternative fashion store who prides themselves on “not being like other stores”. It was my dream job as an emo teenager and it turned into my worst nightmare. After being hired, I was told verbally the day my probation period ended, that I would be getting a promotion to level 2 assistant manager. Three months later, after my manager offering it to another worker to make her stay after she handed in her two-weeks, I finally signed the contract and got my promotion/ .25 raise (l o l). 3 months pass and the new fiscal year begins and unprompted, my manager pulls me into the backroom to tell me that I will not be getting a raise this year because I had “just gotten a raise”. In my time of employment with this place, we had our entire team of associates quit…
The brainwashed attitudes of people.
I bet someone here met with similar situations. But people who themselves are in the shitty jobs are sometimes so pissed towards people who escape this 'system'. I don't even think they really know why themselves. One example (but there were more): My childhood friend, we have known each other since we were born and we are the same age. He was into art all his life and is very good at drawing and design. However, he was struggling badly trapped in low-paid jobs and with debts, because he took loans to pay rent and other stuff. So he was constantly trapped in those jobs for many hours, exhausted by them, paying off debts and then his confidence was dropping. His dream was to be a tattoo artist but he had no energy after working so much. He already was drawing good designs for those. At the same time, I…
