We’re simple phone operators and data entry. Customers call in, state their order, we enter it, then send it to the warehouse. It’s an hourly position, no commission. However commission is generated off every order, it just goes to the manager and 3 sales guys. Even if they had nothing to do with the order. Now the new boss (old manager quit leaving us without a manager for 7 months) is telling us we’re supposed to be upselling calls, getting customers to buy more, increasing the order values. And the amount of commission the manager and sales guys would get. Not us. This comes at the same time I asked to use/take two days paid vacation time, it was approved, I take it off, only to come back to be told that wasn’t happening now.

So hard to take PTO
So awhile ago I tried to apply for a week of PTO in dec and my boss said no because he is taking the entire dec off and needs me in. Seriously? He has never let any of us take an entire month off and he's allowing himself. And recently I tried taking a half day. Actually I only needed an hour or so for an appointment but its an awkward timing so I thought it would he easier to just take half day. I would still be doing work during my free time but my boss cited an upcoming deadline to deny my PTO. Just because a deadline is coming doesn't mean your staff just suddenly stop having a life. We still have kids who needs us bringing them to doctord appointments and stuff. If your company can't function without one individual for half a day maybe you should…
I work for a Corporate Retail company. I would use their name but they actually have people tracking when the company name is used online ( I used the name in a tweet one time and was called 30 minutes later to explain the tweet). A couple of months ago they spent big on new IPhone 12’s that they Jailbroke so that the phones can only use an app the company created. Like most things with this company, the implementation of these phones was handled poorly and so far the phones are pretty much useless. They have hyped up the fact we can clock in and out on the phones, upload pictures of used items we buy in, and we can check our emails. Hooray…. The problem is of course the phones don’t really do all of these things and on top of that the things the phones can do…
I make 10 dollars an hour as a substitute teacher. I cannot afford to live. There was a time I could not come to work because I could not afford the gas to do so. This is a constant cycle I can't break. If I do, this time I'm not going to tell my mom and let her take me to the hospital. I will lay down and die. I know I'm not actually going to though. I have a loving mother and a boyfriend. If it weren't for them then I probably would. My friends don't want to hang out with me anymore and I have nothing else to live for.

Strange boss
I was a contractor yrs ago working for this well known investment company( still around,) I worked in HR, walked into 70 open positions that needed to be filled so I worked 10-11 hours days trying to fill these roles. 6 mos go by mgr told me they were ending my contact, it happens when you are a contractor. I ask why she wouldn't give me a straight answer I pressed her she stated that she questioned all the hours I worked I told her how do you think I filled those jobs, I was still working on some but filled about half. I wasn't thrilled working there so I didn't press it. I ask when we could meet so I could update her on the status of my work. She kept putting it off finally said that she didn't have the time to sit with me, mind you this…
I have a pro-work professor
Previous post got deleted, I have no idea why. Anyway, I found one in the wild. I'm taking a business class about global strategy. My professor posted this comment and asked someone to respond to him. I'm taking the bait. I'll respond with the best comment from here. Here's what he said: “In my opinion the favorability of the United States as a place to do business seems to be declining rapidly regarding certain generational work ethics, people wanting reduced hours, reduced workdays, want to work from home, and a host of other issues including their requirements to be paid more at the same time. Let's not forget worker shortages because people don't want to work at all. If you were the CEO of United States company would be your thinking from a strategic perspective at this point?”
Hey everyone, I'm here to share my story, and if you're interested, you can read along. I joined this company about a year and a half ago as an intern. It was my first job after graduating, so I wasn't exactly experienced in standing up for myself. My cousin, who is friends with my boss, referred me for the position. He often advised me about how going above and beyond could help me climb the ladder. I took his advice seriously and put it into practice. Initially, I really liked working here. There were five of us in the office – two bosses, a colleague who's a coordinator, the cleaning lady, and myself. The job they were doing aligned with my interests, and I was trying my best to learn everything I could. However, despite my efforts, I never received any significant tasks or responsibilities directly related to their core…
I started working this job a month ago. Already second antiwork post lol. But I was speaking with a coworker about the benefits and I mentioned that the vacation time is like double what my previous job had. He said that yes, it is generous, but then he warned me. He said some of the higher up guys (like age 50+) will notice and judge you if you take the entire allotment of vacation days. Like if you use all your days, you will get the reputation of “well this guy just doesn’t want to work”. Is this a normal attitude? Why offer that many if you’re going to be looked down on for taking them? I will say this is an industry where people brag to eachother about how late they stayed, how early they came in, or how they came in for a few hours on Saturday.
I (22m) work in a restaurant in Germany. Yesterday in the middle of my shift I felt really weak and my eyes were burning. When I went home in my 3 hour break (having the day broken up in two shifts, from 11:30 to 14:30 and from 17:30 to 22:30, doesn't let me do anything else with my day but according to the boss I can't change that cause “it's the business”) I measured my temperature and discovered I had fever. So naturally I notified my boss and stayed home. Today I went to a doctor and he told me to absolutely stay home as long as I need and that I should be completely healthy before going back to work, as I work in a food-related service. I got a week sick leave and the recommendation to wait 48 hours if I stop having symptoms before going back to…
