As the title states, it’s disappointing to watch America fall. The relevance to facism and the depleting dollar is what our generation will be remembered for. Failing to do anything when we approached the steps of totalitarianism and late-stage capitalism. We are failing ourselves by not taking action and creating another Boston tea party situation. This isn’t the governments fault for abusing our motivation to protect our rights, it’s ours.

I can’t believe there are still schools in the US. I’m(29F) a second year teacher in TX. Last year I worked my ass off to learn on the job to be a teacher after applying to a position on a whim a week before the year started. I was contracted to work 8.5 hours a day but in reality I was working more like 12 and working Saturday or Sunday. I thrive in a difficult, fact paced environment and I was fucking drowning. All to make about 50k minus whatever supplies weren’t provided (most of them). This doesn’t include the time we are encouraged to attend as many school events as possible. During the pandemic my job was reassigned. Basically my department stopped paying for IT to work on our customer service tickets. They plucked one person from each sub department and internalized customer support. My four teammates and I became the five subject matter experts and the new internal customer service team. Our new team saved the department 40k per month. Been doing this new job since June 2020. We have our ups and down. Our trials and tribulations. Overall, I still did the job I was hired for and learned the skills of the other three teams (I had knowledge in my field and one other persons field. This is the first time (as far as we know) that he got Covid. His symptoms were severe, he could barely walk without nearly falling over. The doctor took him off work for 5 days. He texted his boss a picture of the official diagnosis and a picture of the doctor's note with his instructions to quarantine for 5 days… When he returned on day 6 his HR manager was there and wrote him up, despite the doctors note and positive Covid test. Long story short, I fucked up at work and made some poor choices. I’m taking 100% responsibility for my actions, because I did indeed, fuck up. Some managers came and we had a meeting, made me sign a request for corrective action. I read it thoroughly and signed it, because again, I’m an honest person and owned up to it. However – that was nearly FIVE months ago, and I haven’t heard a peep from HR. Not a word. Nothing from my immediate supervisor who I see daily. Still working, plugging along every day, with no other hiccups. Today I’m told by my supervisor that I can’t be promoted due to the “pending corrective action”. I have had a couple really good paying jobs without needing any degrees. I moved to a new state that is famous for Moms spaghetti and have been getting absolutely railed since. I have a crap job for crap people and finally got a decent interview scheduled for a position that requires some relative experience. HR contacted me and told me an expected pay range so when I completed my interview I was extremely happy to be considered for the job. Hiring managers seemed incompetent at a seemingly depressing company offered me the job “up front” as they have never done before (stupid of me). You only love life once and are expected to work for 40+ years… those are the best years of your life your working away… you can’t enjoy anything or enjoy family. You work so hard to make money but everything is so overpriced it’s impossible. You can never hang out with family due to everyone working. You miss your kids growing up most of the time just to provide. It is so sad that we waste over half our life working it away. Life is to short and anything after 60 years old you can’t really do much with your life. You work until you physically can’t work or you die. There is so much to see and to explore.
