Need help ASAP!
So I don't know if this is the right sub to post this question, but my co-worker always seems to call off last minute from work on Sundays. Anyways he did it again today, he told me personally he said he spoke to somebody about calling off and that's it. So I call the scheduling manager to see what's going to happen no answer so next I call HR spoke to somone who was once in charge but still haven't gotten any response. Anyways my point is can I get in trouble for abandoning work, since they have not reached back out to me at all I've been the one calling them?
I was a cook at a restaurant. On Thursday night I was really sick throwing up all night. I was scheduled to work at 9:00 a.m. Friday morning. I meant to text my boss and tell him I wasn't going to be in but in between throwing up and finally being able to get some sleep I did not. I did not wake up until almost 1:00 p.m. Friday. I then texted him and let him know I was going to be out and I apologize for not reaching out earlier but I had been sick. He then responded and told me that I constantly let the team down even though I've only called in three times total in the 6 months I've worked there. One of the other cooks just had a baby last Thursday and was supposed to work Friday but was out obviously. My boss then texted…
My boss asked me to come in and work 10am-12pm on Sunday to help with something, so I showed up at 9:55am and waited 30 minutes for the boss, or anyone, to show up. They didn't. I went to another place nearby to ask for a pen, paper, and tape to leave a note at the door saying I was there when I was asked to, and that nobody showed up so I left at 10:30. If you ask someone to work extra time before their shift, AT LEAST SHOW UP WHEN YOU ASK THEM TO. The door was locked so I couldn't have even gone in. This is bullshit. I have location history, too, so I can show them I waited from 9:55am until 10:35am. EDIT, addition: I'm back home now and I'm just going to play something until the shift I am actually scheduled for today unless I…
Overworked at 8 months pregnant
Today was supposed to be the last day I worked before my unpaid “maternity leave” at my food service job so I wanted to take the opportunity to rant about the absolute bullshit they have put me through over the last 5 months. I started as a manager at this pizza place around October last year and right off the bat had issues with staffing and lack of management. Even though I was 3 months pregnant I kept up with all other leaders and was easily one of the best people at my job. We switched over management on New Year’s and even though I liked our new GM, it seemed as soon as she stepped up things just got worse. We had 3 managers quit, leaving only 3 of us and the GM. We also had several staff quit. Don’t blame them but at that point we should’ve began…
I got covid on Thursday.
I have been triple vaccinated, I've taken all the precautions, but it still happened. Meh, it happens. My boss has been pretty good about it, but there is a hidden advantage to all of this. I am so sick that I can't keep food down, can't leave the house, lights and sounds exacerbate my headache… This means I have nothing to spend money on! Being sick is a godsend for budgeting. I can't go anywhere or eat anything. I don't want to play games, I can't see anyone, I keep all my lights and tv off. I'm stuck at home so I'm not showering or changing/washing clothes… So if you all want some solid advice for how to whether gas prices or inflation… Take it from me! Get very very sick!! It's no stupider advice than eating lentils or laying off the avacado toast.
Glassdoor Reviews Disappearing?
An old employer has engaged in some very sketchy activity and has quite a few Glassdoor reviews referencing that activity. Old coworkers and I would watch the Glassdoor reviews and share with each other when a new one published, honestly as a “so glad we left” thread. In one week, rating went from 3.9 to 4.8 with the same amount of reviews. We can’t find ANY of the old negative reviews referencing the illegal/immoral behavior and there are about 10 brand new reviews. This has completely eradicated any trust I had in the transparency of Glassdoor and their “no reviews deleted” policy. Edit: if you see a bad review, please let that have more merit than any of the good ones. I’ve seen a few comment threads with tons of upvotes on advice to always check Glassdoor. Please don’t make the mistake of thinking you are getting anywhere near the…
